Bishop James Coleman

Dr. James E. Coleman, Jr. is a Bishop in the Lord’s Church with apostolic succession through the Presiding Prelate Bishop James W.E. Dixon, II of the Kingdom Builders Global Fellowship based in Houston, Texas. 

​

Coleman is also the Senior Bishop of Providence Transformation Church International in Lynchburg, Virginia, Dean of the Leonard N. Smith School of Religion at Virginia University of Lynchburg as well as Faculty Chair for VUL. 

​

Coleman has a broadly viewed television broadcast that airs weekly on WSET ABC 13 weekly in the Lynchburg/Danville area and beyond!

About Our Bishop

Coleman is a husband, father, son, published author of Return Of The Men, and activist at the local, state, and national levels. He holds a B.S. Degree in Political Science and Public Administration from James Madison University, Master of Divinity Degree from Virginia Union University, Master of Theology Degree from Duke University, and an earned Doctorate from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio as a Wyatt Tee Walker and W. Franklyn Richardson Fellow. Coleman is also a graduate of the 2001 Harvard University Summer Leadership and Community Development Institute. He has led pilgrimages to Jordan, Israel, Africa, Turkey, and Greece.

 

 

Among many other responsibilities, Dr. Coleman is the Chair of the Lynchburg City School Board, Finance/Audit Committee Chair and Board of Directors Executive Committee Member of the Virginia School Boards Association, Executive Committee Member, Virginia High School League, 2nd Vice President, Baptist General Convention of Virginia, Social Justice Chair, Virginia Baptist State Convention, General Board Member, Lynchburg BB&T/Truist Bank, Member of Rush Homes’ Board of Directors, General Board Member, One Family/One Future, General Board Member, Lighthouse Community Outreach, Life Member, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Member, Kingdom Builders Global Fellowship, Member, Global United Fellowship, Member, NAACP, Member, Rainbow Push Coalition, Member, and former National Board Member of the National Action Network. Coleman previously served as a Lynchburg Planning Commissioner.

 

 

Dr. Coleman has received numerous awards at the local, state, and national levels to include The National Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. College Brother of The Year Award, National Runner-Up, Belford V. Lawson Oratorical Contest, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Who's Who Among Students at American Universities and Colleges, NAACP Freedom Fighter Award, and Lynchburg Humanitarian Award. Coleman has spoken at the Pentagon, U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington D.C. Redeem The Dream March, Lynchburg Obama For President Rally, March For More Rally in Richmond, a host of churches, conferences, conventions, colleges, and organizations around the country.
